Preparing for College

With the fall semester on the horizon, now is the time to start planning what you’ll be doing for the school year. Students cram books, housing, food, exams, and a social life into their school day and meet the challenges that college life can bring. It’s always comforting to have a friend, like your credit union, along for support. Just think of us as another part of college life that can help you save money and spend wisely. Here are some ways we may be able to help students.

Student Checking Account:* Get set for student life and manage your own money easily with a student checking account, and be sure to get a BFCU debit card with rewards when you open your checking account. You’ll earn reward points on qualified signature-based purchases when you use your new debit card for back-to-school shopping and more.** Redeem points for cash back, gift cards, fuel discounts, and more!

Online and Mobile Banking: Whether you’re in your dorm room, the computer lab, or a coffee shop, you can check your account information from anywhere. Manage funds, check balances, and pay bills from the convenience of, well, anywhere! Even send money to your family and friends via the BFCU Mobile App with Zelle®*** and deposit checks from home via the mobile app.

Personal Loans: Count on BFCU for personal loans. A representative will work with you to find the best type of loan at the best rate possible. A personal loan can be a great way to build your credit for future endeavors.

Car Loans: Motion Promotion is still going strong with great auto loan rates on new and pre-owned 2023 and newer vehicles!

Take Us With You: When you go off to college, there may not be a BFCU location nearby. You can still access your money! We offer over 55,000+ surcharge-free ATMs worldwide. Use our Location service to find an ATM or a CO-OP® Shared Branch℠ location near you on our mobile app or at bfcu.org.

*Membership eligibility required. Minors must have joint parent/guardian on account. Must have photo ID to receive a debit card. Must be under the age of 25 and enrolled in school. **Earn 1 point for every $5 on qualifying signature-based purchases. Points will not accumulate for PIN-based transactions. ***Must have a bank account in the U.S. to use Zelle®. Zelle® and the Zelle® related marks are wholly owned by Early Warning Services, LLC, and are used herein under license.
